Bible Reading Schedule v1.5 on the App Store

As I mentioned at the last post (http://roachapp.blogspot.com/2011/01/bible-reading-schedule-soon-to-be.html), version 1.5 is now on the App Store, starting yesterday.

The feature includes Twitter / FaceBook / mail support to 'boast' your reading progress. In my personal experience, 'boasting' can keep you going. Hopefully it also works for your bible reading.

Bible Reading Schedule explained - scheduling

I'd like to explain how to use the Bible Reading Schedule.

When you run the app for the first time, you will see the screen that is similar to the following picture.
First Screen

It is the "Schedule" screen. You can switch between the screens by tapping the tab bar that is always sit at the bottom of the screen.

Tab Bar
By tapping each icon at the tab bar, you can navigate to "Progress" screen, "Analysis" screen, "Schedule" screen, and "Help" screen any time.

Let me explain the Schedule screen first.

Change Button
You must decide what date you will start reading the Bible. Please touch the Change button at the top. A date picker will appear, and you can change the start date. Touch OK button to apply your change.

Date Picker Appeared

Likewise, you can also set the end date of your reading schedule. Note that the app lets you know how many days are there between the start date and the end date.

Two Slide Bars Appeared
Also, you can determine how many time you will read the Old Testament and/or the New Testament during the reading period. Tap the third Change button, and two slide bars will appear.

By touching and dragging the slider button, you can set how many times you will read the Old and/or New testaments. You can see the total chapters you have to read below the sliders.

If you want, you can read only New Testament at this time by setting the Old Testament to "Not Scheduled". And you can decide to read the New Testament 10 times during the scheduled dates.

However, you cannot set the sliders more than 10. If you do wish to read the OT or the NT more than 10 times during the time span, I recommend you to shorten the time period instead.

Below is the example of the decided schedule. In this case, you will start to read the bible from January 1, 2011, and will finish by December 31, 2011. You will read the Old Testament once and will read the New testament once during the period. That means, you will read 1189 chapters of the bible in 365 days.

Scheduled Bible Reading

Clear All Data Button
Now, you can touch the Clear All Data button. What it does is that the app will erase all the previously reading data and start over. Because you haven't input any bible reading data yet, it is no harm to do it.

However, if you are in the middle of the bible reading during the time period and you mistakenly erase all the data, it will be disastrous. So please be careful when you touch the button. To prevent that kind of mistake, when you touch the button, the app will ask you if you are really sure to do it. Touch No to cancel it, and touch Yes if you really want to erase all the data.

Caution - the data will be erased

Please note that you want to touch the Clear All Data button only after you successfully finish your previous bible reading schedule. If you did finish the reading, you can happily set up a new reading schedule and touch the Clear All Data button.

However, there are chances that you find out that you are too far behind the schedule and can never finish the goal by the end date. Even if that happens, I recommend not to start all over again. You can just change the end date or change your goal. Just continue your reading and finish your goal.

Now you should be able to schedule your bible reading. Next time, I will explain the other screens - Progress screen and Analysis screen. I don't think I will explain the Help screen, because there's noting difficult in the screen. Just try the Help screen now, by tapping the tab bar.
